That just stinks, Peter Jennings represents. I'll never forget the time he did the show with the little kids during the Gulf War I think when he tried to explain what was going on to them. Always seemed like a class act to me.

JW Reaction to Pope's death
by Hondo ini'm not sure how to ask this not being, never have been, a jw.
with millions, maybe billions, of people around the globe paying their respects to this great man, what is, or what would be, reaction from jw's (a gb member, a co, do, an elder, anyone?
) about the death of the pope and all the network(s) coverage surrounding his passing?

You know it is just amazing, do you think that dubs feel that their total denial of the world around them for the most part somehow makes them more holy? Being no part of the world and being in your own little world are two different things.

Debased Lyrics
by diamondblue1974 inyes i know its a music thread and it might get posted elsewhere....but what are your favourite lyrics from the jw proverbial list of banned music...one of mine personally is the following:-.
these are the days of the beggars and the choosers.
this is the year of the hungry man.

Be what you wanna be
See what you came to see
Been what you wanna be
I don't like what I seeLike the coldest winter chill
Heaven Beside you...Hell within
Like the coldest winter chill
Heaven beside you...Hell within
Like the coldest winter chill
Put Heaven beside you
Hell within
And you think you have it still, Heaven inside youSo there's problems in your life
That's fucked up
And I'm not blind
I'm just see-through
Faded
Super jaded
And out of my mindDo what you wanna do
Go out and seek your truth
When I'm down and blue
Rather be me than youLike the coldest winter chill
Heaven Beside you...Hell within
Like the coldest winter chill
Heaven Beside you...Hell within
Like the coldest winter chill
Heaven Beside you...Hell within
And you wish you had it still, Heaven inside youSo there's problems in your life
That's fucked up
But you're not blind
You're just see-through
Faded
Overrated
And out of your mindLike the coldest winter chill
Heaven Beside you...Hell within
Like the coldest winter chill
Heaven Beside you...Hell within
Like the coldest winter chill
Heaven Beside you...Hell within
And you know you have it still, Heaven inside youHeaven Beside You, Alice in Chains

Well, the WBTS was wrong about everything else they ever said, why would this be any different. Comes as no big surprise to me.

Please Keep whyamihere & her little son in your thoughts today
by HadEnuf inhello everybody...my daughter (in-law), whyamihere/brooke, has been at the hospital all day with her little boy, 1 yr. 4 months old...who has had such a bad case of the flu that they had to hook him up to an iv for fluid.
he was sick all last week and then was getting better...then took a turn for the worse yesterday.
can't keep anything down.

Do you sense "a sense of urgency" in the congregations?
by truthseeker innow that we're in the 21st century, and all those pre-millenium worries that a few had about armaggedon seem to have gone, everyone seems to be getting on with their lives, buying homes, going on cruises and planning for their retirement.. not everyone does these things, but there is so little talk about the great tribulation, armaggedon and the new system, you can't help but wonder if they are just going through the motions.. i see young people at the hall - they couldn't care less about spiritual things, although they may comment and go out in service.. i see people in the 30s quietly getting on with life - a few are building their own homes from scratch, others are planning on moving and some have bought new cars.. nothing wrong with this, but each of these things show an investment in the future.
a car has to be paid for (if its a lease), a home needs a 15/25/30 year mortgage and this all takes time.. time with a capital "t".. let's face it - the urgency is gone.
no one thinks about the "time of the end" and everyone does their own thing.. families are still having children.. one of my college professors once asked me: "how do you know that people have confidence in the future?".

Sense of urgency? How about a pulse.
